Multi-Player Mode

Multiplayer Game-Play Features
SWAT 3's multiplayer mode has multiplayer-specific features, and incorporates changes to existing single-player features. See below for details.

Magnified Optics
The HK G36 and M4 ACOG variants come equipped with magnified optics that you can use to zoom in on distant objects. If you are using one of these weapons, you can change your sighting focal length by pressing the "N" key. You may move and shoot normally in this mode. To return to your weapon's standard sight, press the "N" key a second time.

Deathmatch Self-Respawn
During the multiplayer-testing phase of SWAT 3: Elite Edition it was discovered that a player could spawn in a map space that they weren't supposed to be able to occupy. To avoid having players become trapped we decided to add a Self Re-spawn control, which you'll find in the Options/Keyboard Mapping screen.

Since the Self Re-spawn feature can be used in any situation, we have attached a penalty to it; each re-spawn results in minus 1 point. For those who use the feature only when they're stuck and not to get out of a firefight, we apologize for the penalty.

In-Game Menus
In single-player mode, accessing the Options Screen and the Briefing Screen pauses the game; in multiplayer mode it doesn't. Consider finding cover before activating either of these screens.

Custom Chat
The Custom Chat feature is an extension of SWAT 3's communication system. Messages created for Custom Chat can be accessed from both the Command Menu and the Response Menu in Coop mode by pressing the "9" key. In Deathmatch mode, press the "2" key to access Custom Chat messages.

For detailed information on creating custom messages, refer to the documentation above, under Main Options Screen, Custom Chat.

Chat Box
Press the ENTER key to activate the chat box during the game. Type your message and then press the TAB key to access and cycle through a list of recipients for your message. Press ENTER a second time to send your message.

Opti-Wand
In multiplayer mode, when the Opti-Wand is active, players can use both the Command and the Response Menus to notify their team of potential threats or the presence of hostages as seen in the Opti-Wand image screen.

For detailed information on interfacing with the menus in conjunction with the Opti-Wand, refer to the documentation below, under Multiplayer Communications, Multiplayer Command Menu and Response Menu.
