Police Quest 2: The Vengeance (1988)

Released just one year after In Pursuit of the Death Angel, Police Quest II made many technological leaps over the original. Developed using SCI (Sierra Creative Interpreter), the in-house development language created for King's Quest IV, Police Quest II had double the screen resolution of the original and a 30-minute soundtrack that took advantage of the new 32 voice MIDI peripherals.

The player returns as Lytton Police Detective Sonny Bonds, hot on the trail of escaped felon and cop-killer Jesse Bains who has sworn revenge on those who put him behind bars. Police Quest II was a deeper, more complex game than the original, introducing authentic homicide procedures, forensics experts, outside police agencies, and bomb disarmament.
