Quest for Glory V's initial 3725 lines of dialog (totaling approximately 10 ½ hours) were initially recorded in the summer of 1997. Small changes in the story made during production made it necessary to change "anything that didn't work within the context of the current game," according to producer Jay Usher.

In August of 1998, Usher, game designer Lori Cole, and sound designer Craig Denny went back into the studio for a week-long pick up session at the Studio One recording studio in North Hollywood, California. Joined by veteran voice and casting director Charles de Vries, extra lines and new actors were added to round out the script.

"The well-written scripts contain some of the best voice acting I've heard in an adventure game, and there is an enormous amount of spoken dialogue."
