SIERRA STUDIOS LAUNCHES REDESIGNED SWAT 3 WEB SITE
BELLEVUE, WA (October 7, 1999) -- Sierra Studios announced today the relaunch
of their SWAT 3 Web site with more information on everything from news and gameplay
to the history of LAPD SWAT. Consumer demand for additional information on this hotly
anticipated, first-person tactical simulation spawned the new site, which has been
redesigned to provide a behind the scenes look at the components that make SWAT 3
a truly authentic game.
The fresh new site, located at http://www.sierrastudios.com/games/swat3, showcases
the story of SWAT, with a brief history of the 31-year-old organization in Los Angeles
and major events during this time, even a day-in-the-life account of a SWAT officer.
There is also an interview with former LAPD Chief Daryl Gates, who pioneered Special
Weapons and Tactics and whose approach to handling civil disorders and terrorism has
become standard practice around the world.
Additionally, the redesign features background on actual SWAT officers that helped
in the consulting of SWAT 3, as well as development team biographies, and interviews
with Producer, Rod Fung and Game Designer, Tammy Dargan. Also found on the new site
is a description of the 12-year history of police simulations from Sierra, including
the Police Quest series, which has actually been used in real police training.
