SWAT 3: Close Quarters Battle Debuts at E3

BELLEVUE, WA., May 26, 1999 - Unveiled at this year's Electronic Entertainment Exposition (E3) in Los Angeles, Sierra Studios plans to take tactical simulation action games to new heights this fall with SWAT 3: Close Quarters Battle (CQB).

SWAT 3: CQB is the latest title in the popular SWAT series, which has sold more than a million combined units since its debut in 1995. This latest addition to the celebrated series brings a new dimension to realism, as you assume the role of SWAT leader, participating and commanding a five man team throughout the chaos of hostage rescues, high risk warrants, barricaded suspects and dignitary protection, in a fully 3D world.

"Close cooperation with the L.A.P.D. has allowed us to engender an extremely accurate 3D tactical simulation, making this game a one of a kind," said Dan Amdur, product manager, Sierra Studios. "The cutting edge artificial intelligence in SWAT 3 allows players to have a truly dynamic experience, navigating your five-man squad through an ever-changing world of ultra-realistic good guys and bad guys."

SWAT 3: CQB is based on real life L.A.P.D. SWAT tactics with missions ripped from today's, and tomorrow's, headlines. Motion-capture technology combined with photo-realistic environments makes CQB's gameplay remarkably genuine. Explore 20 missions taking place in Los Angeles, year 2005, in either career or mission modes. Photographic resources for faces and clothing, along with split-skeleton animations, help to create real world characters out of 3D models. True-to-life physics allow you shoot through doors; and with 3D environments based around real L.A. locations such as the LAX control tower and Mann's Chinese Theater, SWAT 3 offers unparalleled authenticity. So take command of a five-man SWAT team and prepare to take on more than 150 of the most vicious terrorists and criminals L.A. has to offer.
