SIERRA STUDIOS ANNOUNCES SWAT 3: BATTLE PLAN
Now Gamers Take on Each Other in this Life-Like World of SWAT
BELLEVUE, WA (February 18, 2000) - Sierra Studios today announced SWAT 3: Battle Plan,
the multi-player add-on to SWAT 3: Close Quarters Battle, recently nominated for Computer Gaming
World's 1999 "Action Game of the Year." Scheduled to ship Q3 2000, Battle Plan will allow gamers
to experience the real world of SWAT by deploying actual SWAT weapons and tactics in new
missions and multiplayer modes.
Battle Plan will deliver 6 more missions and multiplayer capability to the cutting-edge
SWAT 3: CQB, which is highly praised for its extremely accurate 3D tactical simulation and
superior artificial intelligence. Battle Plan will support up to 10 players on a LAN or over
the Internet. The multiplayer game will offer gamers several choices; create an alliance
with the opposing team and attempt to complete overall objectives during a Co-Op
game, play Death Match, or play a tournament style game in Competitive mode. Also
included in Battle Plan will be our Worldcraft level editor and skins editors, which will
allow the player to create their own levels and customize their character and weapons.
"Battle Plan offers a unique variety to the multiplayer experience," said Producer,
Rod Fung. "Offering three different multiplayer game types, the option to play as
a terrorist or SWAT officer, coupled with the superior AI for more than 100 characters,
gives players increased replayability in an incredibly realistic environment."
Throughout both the new single and multiplayer missions, the heart of the
game is based on real life L.A.P.D. special weapons and SWAT tactics, just as
in SWAT 3: CQB. Motion capture technology, cutting edge computer intelligence,
a real-world physics engine, and the close cooperation of actual LAPD SWAT
officers in development make this the most authentic tactical game ever.
Photographic resources for faces and clothing help to create real world
characters out of 3D models, while dynamic lighting coupled with environments
built to scale with photographic resources make the SWAT 3 world extremely
lifelike. More information can be found at http://sierrastudios.com/games/swat3/.
A free, downloadable upgrade, will also be made available, consisting of a
SWAT 3: CQB multiplayer executable that uses the original 16 missions. The
downloadable SWAT 3 multiplayer upgrade will allow gamers to play as a SWAT
officer in co-op with up to four other players, using all new weapons, and will use
all of the single player missions and current start points for the SWAT officers.
