The players at SharkyGames gave Homeworld: Cataclysm a rave review (like we're surprised?). Here's a bite of Brett Todd's review: "…believe me, when you play games for a living, you don't often cry 'More!' when you finish one. The basic foundation and overall game balance and execution are so solid that other developers should be ringing up Barking Dog to find out how sequels are supposed to be designed. Don't miss this one."

Even better, Cataclysm was the winner of Sharky's RTS Shootout 2000! Games editor Peter Closs writes: "Cataclysm was a cross between a sequel and an add-on, and it succeeded as both. It added more to the original game than your average add-on, while being long and polished enough to qualify as a stand alone product, and a top quality one at that."

Homeworld: Cataclysm is the target of another fine review. The gang at Firing Squad found the game so on target, they gave it their Editor's Choice Award. "The gameplay of the Homeworld series is now cemented as revolutionary. Games in the future will either draw upon this series as influence, or out and out steal its ideas. Homeworld and its sequel, Cataclysm, have done more for RTS than all others save perhaps Herzog Zwei and the PC Classic Dune 2000. The multiplayer of Cataclysm is unrivaled, offering up even more options than the original."

Cataclysm melds all the best traits of Homeworld, then adds new traits that refine the game into a new classic. Sierra truly has had a banner year for RTS games and Cataclysm stands to be the pinnacle. . . . This game surpasses all expectations and preconceptions I held for it. It is truly one of the best, most enjoyable RTS games I have ever played.
